Amblers

Status:Active, full but can join waiting list
Leader:
When: Fortnightly on Thursday mornings
Venue: Directions to start point given each time

We meet once every two weeks during term time to take a gentle walk of no more than 1 mile, followed by time socialising over refreshments at a nearby café. These two aspects are of equal importance to our group.

Members take turns to organise and lead our ambles in parks, along canals and on easy paths in the countryside.

In winter we usually visit places within a few miles of Halesowen e.g Mary Stevens Park but may venture further afield in the warmer months e.g. Redditch.

Full directions and details are sent out about a week before each Amble. Members are responsible for their own travel arrangements, though most organise lifts among themselves. Costs such as car park charges or entry charges may be incurred.

Members thinking of joining us should appreciate that we operate rather differently from the other Walking Groups. We walk slowly and rest or turn back whenever one of us needs to. We also stop frequently to look at flowers, trees and birds.

The social side of our meetings is very important to us; friendships grow as we walk, chat and enjoy coffee afterwards. The visit to a café is an integral part of a walk.

The size of our group is limited to a maximum of 20, both for safety reasons and the capacity of some cafés.
