Eat your way around the world was the original proposal for our dining group. For people who enjoy eating out, and trying different foods in a sociable and convivial atmosphere with friends old and new! The group normally meets once per month on alternating Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, visiting cafes and restaurants to experience the many different cuisines available. Varying the days gives everyone a chance to join us, because members may have commitments on certain days.
In addition to changing the meeting days, we also vary the food choice, rotating through European, Asian and Rest of the world cuisines.
We occasionally meet in the early evening instead of lunchtime and we have also enjoyed a few Sunday Lunches which proved popular with our members.
The group started in June 2022, and currently has over 60 members, with anywhere between 9 and 22 members taking part each month. Average attendance is currently running at 16 members per event.
We have now tried English, French, Greek and Italian (European), Bangladeshi, Indian, Sri Lankan, Thai and Vietnamese (Asian) and Caribbean, Lebanese, Mexican, South American and Syrian (Rest of the world) restaurants.

In January 2026 the more adventurous ones went to the Vietnamese Street Kitchen to try some of the authentic dishes on offer. Whether you prefer the classic "Street Eats" (spring rolls, spare ribs, etc) , Big Bowls (various dishes with rice), Pho (noodle soup), or the traditional Bao Buns, you will surely find something you like.

October 2025 saw us visit a firm favourite Italian restaurant, Pasta Di Piazza, located just off St Paul's Square in the Jewellery Quarter. Always delicious Italian food, made freshly to order and served in generous portions by friendly staff.
September featured a return visit to Turtle Bay, a Caribbean restaurant located in Brindley Place, Birmingham (photo below is from our first visit to Turtle Bay back in 2023). This month also saw the return of a Sunday Lunch offering at a local pub, this one was organised by Ann, another member.

August featured the ever-popular curry night, this time taking us to Vakas Balti in Windmill Hill, Cradley. Some 22 members joined us for fantastic food at this popular restaurant, where everything is freshly prepared to order.
In July, Jackie, one of our members, organised a visit to The Roe Deer, a "Gastro Pub" in Wordsley, near Stourbridge, and everyone enjoyed the good food, friendly service and warm ambiance.
June 2025 saw 18 members visited a rather smart Greek restaurant, serving authentic dishes. The superb food brought back happy memories of holidays spent in the Greek islands.
Many of the places we choose have "lunchtime special" offers, with reasonable prices for a midweek meal. Expect to pay somewhere between £10 and £20 for a main course, excluding drinks. Actual cost will vary and will depend upon your food choice, and the venue. Vegetarian and Vegan choices are normally available, and both the number and variety of those dishes on offer continues to improve.
Should you decide to join the group, there is no expectation that you will come to every meal offered. Simply join us when you want to, and feel free to pick and choose those meals that take your fancy, or fit in your diary. Members are encouraged to suggest new venues or food choices, and help others share in something, perhaps unusual, that you have enjoyed.

We ask that you do not just turn up at one of the group activities, please contact the membership team beforehand.
