• Themes of violence against women and limited opportunities available to women in 18th and 19th century literature as seen in, for example, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and other novels by the Brontë sisters
• The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
• The Apple Tree Yard by Louise Doughty
